Discovering gardens around the world in the flowery village


During Candelo in fiore the Ricetto, a medieval village par exellence, both for its architecture and for its lifestyle, with craftsmen and artists that work in cellars as in old medieval workshops, communicates the strenght of floreal language.

There has always been an intense relationship between man and vegetation: the 12th edition of this event aims to recreate among the streets of the medieval village a "travel to the gardens from allover the world" and to offer to visitors many atmospheres conveied through the art of gardening. There will be the possibility, through a sensorial path, to discover many places of imagination: the historic Italian garden, the luxurious beds of French castles, the "hortus conclusus" of cloisters, the coloured spanish patios, meditation zen gardens, geometry and symbols of islamic gardens, the majesty and elegance of english parks, the essentiality of desert gardens and and the lush tropical ones. Old symbologies of gardens quoted in the Holy Bible will be recreated (the Gethsemane garden, the Eden, the Golgotha).

Not just flowered corners: many exhibitions will have a leading role during the event, in the year of the exposition of the Holy Shroud in Turin and of the open-air theatrical event of the Passion in Sordevolo (the greatest choral play in Italy performed by amateur actors) and theis main theme will be spirituality and the paths of faith. So tourists will have the chance to discover the beauties of sanctuaries and the Holy Mountains of Biellese (Oropa, Graglia, San Giovanni d’Andorno…) and of the rest of Piedmont, the Francigena Route and other realities that operate to recover and disclose the tradidion of Miracle Plays. Special guest in this edition will be the Province of Salerno with the sanctuary of "Madonna delle galline" of Pagani and the High Savoy city of La Roche sur Foron, twin town of Candelo.

Candelo in fiore will be a great opportunity to make local wines and food well known among tourists. The area of Biella is rich of different flavours ready to offer a large variety of firs-rate products. During the event special menus will be proposed by local restaurants and many other culinary initiatives will be arranged: floral-flavour greedy spots inside and outside the medieval streets of Ricetto, tasting nights of local wines and cheese and a catering service fit out in the central square in front of Ricetto.
